Installing an SSL/TLS certificate on Windows.

The ‘SHIFT72 Player’ requires connections to web servers via 'HTTPS’. When configuring the ‘SHIFT72 Caching Proxy’ this requires that either an exception is added to the browser to trust the ‘SHIFT72 Caching Proxy SSL certificate’ or we install the ‘SHIFT72 Caching Proxy CA certificate’ into the local machine's set of trusted certificates.

NOTE: This process will need to be repeated on every machine that you plan to use the ‘Caching Proxy’. Advanced users can distribute the ca.pem file via ‘Group Policy’ to automate this process.

This is what Chrome looks like without a trusted certificate.

Step 1: Locate the ca.pem file

This file was created as part of the ‘Caching Proxy Setup’.

It can also be found by ignoring the browser warning and proceeding to https://x.x.x.x:7200/install (the x.x.x.x is the IP Address where the ‘Caching Proxy’ is running).

Step 2: Open the Certificate Manager

Step 3: Import the certificate

Import the certificate (ca.pem) by right-clicking on the ‘Certificate’ folder under ‘Trusted Root Certification Authorities’. You will need to browse all files to select ‘Import’.

You should now see the 'SHIFT72 Proxy' certificate installed.

Step 4:

Refresh the browser and it should now show that the ‘Caching Proxy’ site is trusted (see below).
