The ‘SHIFT72 Caching Proxy’ is designed to assist with streaming content on networks with limited internet access. Poor network connectivity can impact the streaming quality. Streaming on heavily congested networks can negatively impact other network applications.

Overview

The ‘SHIFT72 Caching Proxy’ (CP) is a server application that runs inside your network. It is responsible for downloading, storing, and serving video content to ‘SHIFT72 Players’.

Web browsers running the ‘SHIFT72 Player’ are configured to connect the ‘CP’. Correctly configured ‘Players’ will contact the ‘CP’ located inside the network rather than connecting to the internet.

The ‘CP’ will serve content from its local ‘Cache’ if it has a copy otherwise it will serve content from the internet while downloading a copy of the video in the background to send to all future requests.
